WHAT DO I DO WITH MY NEWBORN BABY?

Find out at my antenatal baby education class

You are expecting a baby. Perhaps you’re feeling a mixture of apprehension and excitement.

Perhaps you have questions such as:

  • How many times should I expect to breastfeed my baby each day and for how long?”
  • “How do I know if my baby is hungry or tired?”
  • “How do I know if my baby is getting enough breastmilk?”
  • “Is breastfeeding meant to hurt?”
  • “How will I know when things are ‘supposed’ to happen (eg sleep through the night, solid food, crawl)?”
  • “What do I do when I baby won’t stop crying?”
  • “Where should my baby sleep?”

Perhaps you have heard people say:

  • “Get as much sleep as you can now before your baby is born.”
  • You don’t know what you are getting yourself into.”
  • “Our baby wouldn’t sleep in his own bed until he was 5!”
  • “Our baby only ever slept in our arms.”

And, if you have plans to breastfeed you may have heard things like:

  • “Oh, good luck there, my milk dried up when my baby was 6 weeks old!”
  • “Oh, my breastmilk was off.
  • “Oh, breastfeeding is too painful!”

Perhaps you also have questions such as:

  • “How do you ‘play’ with a newborn baby?”
  • “How long does a baby sleep each day?”
  • “What should I expect in terms of a ‘routine’?”
  • "Will I just ‘know’ how to be a good parent (because I know there's a baby in there but I don't feel like a Mum just yet)?”
  • “Who can I contact if I have any problems?”
  • “What is the best way to put my baby to sleep?”

It certainly is possible to assist a baby from the very beginning to develop healthy sleeping habits, just the way you’d like to, and, for the vast majority of women, to be able to successfully breastfeed, just in the way you’d like to.

One frequently missing link here, however, is that many people miss out on learning, before their baby is born, about the facts of infant sleep, behaviour and breastfeeding and about where to seek help from if things are not going quite right postnatally. The vast majority of breastfeeding and sleep issues can be resolved quickly if dealt with promptly, but like with anything, prevention is better than cure.

This is why learning about infant sleep, behaviour and breastfeeding in detail antenatally with someone who is passionate about these areas and who genuinely cares, can start you on a road to a very happy relationship with your baby. My antenatal baby education classes will answer all of the above questions for you and more.

Throughout my class, my approach is realistic, honest and relaxed. I invite participant questions/ideas throughout the class. I genuinely care about you and your baby’s wellbeing. I truly understand how wonderful and yet how challenging it is to bring up a child. My aim is to have my class participants enter parenthood with newfound confidence and to begin the road to a happy journey from the very beginning.

I happily invite any questions, so please feel free to email me at:
